The therapeutic space I offer is safe and non-judgmental, allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings at a pace that is convenient and respectful. I am committed to providing a supportive environment that empowers you to make significant changes in your life.
I work with children and young people, and adults offering a safe, non-judgemental place in which any behaviours, developmental and emotional difficulties can be made sense of. My role looks at behaviour as a form of communication and provide a safe space to process these struggles and explore the meaning of them and work towards strategies to make changes.
Working in a psychodynamic way involves discussing everyday life and outside experiences using a range of creative approaches such as playing, drawing alongside talking. The purpose of this is for me to understand their inner world, perspectives and point of view.
By doing this I aim to help your child recognise and express their emotions healthily, build self- awareness and self-esteem.
There is no quick fix in therapy and psychodynamic sessions are a free-flowing process led by the child/young person, but it can encompass psycho-educational approaches such as mindfulness or cognitive behavioural techniques. Part of my role is to help young people develop the emotional control and the resilience they need to lead fulfilling lives.
My role is to understand any unconscious feelings which may be driving any behaviours and distress using a range of resources to facilitate non-verbal ways of communicating feelings.
A psychodynamic therapist believes that all parents are doing their best, with what they have at any given time, and that being a parent can be demanding and hard. They recognise and respect that parents hold immense expertise and relational knowledge of their children, and that it is a generous and considerable act to seek, finance and support their child to access therapy.
